Clara Rockmore

Léon Theremin patented the aetherphone (later to be known as the theremin)  in 1928. His instrument originally enjoyed use in film starting from the 30′s,  the earliest example of which is the soundtrack for 1931′s Odna, written by Soviet composer Dimitri Shostakovitch.
